big things

Today is a weird day. It's weird to sit here and think that I will never experience a day like this again. I will never have the same day I've been experiencing for the last two and a half years ever again. I won't walk into this office and feel the same things, I won't see these same people each day ever again, I won't have to sit in my silly turnaround ramp on the 5 freeway again, I won't start debating what to have at lunch come 11:30 ever again . . . It's all kinda sad and scary at the same time. Jason (my boss) wrote this in an e-mail to the company as a response to my farewell e-mail:

It is a sad day for all of us who have worked with Lisa over the past two and a half years. As one of our early hires in San Diego Lisa played a key role in improving our product and site photography while designing countless ads, stickers, promo boxes, business cards, and other projects too numerous to count! On top of that she was always willing to organize company events and holiday parties which helped me more than she knows....

Thank you for all of your efforts over the past few years, you've played a large role in making DrJays.com what it is today.

Best of luck to you -
Jason
But despite the sadness and despite the scary amounts of vulnerability I feel right now, I can't help but notice the butterflies sitting in the back of my tummy. I can't help but feel excited by the things to come - the new job, the new house, the new town, but most of all I can't help but be uber-excited about the fact that I will never again in my whole life spend 9 hour days photoshopping and publishing hiphop clothing - yeeeeehaw! Also, I can't help but feel welcomed and excited by the e-mail I received earlier this week from my new boss announcing me to the new company:
On February 13 Lisa Simmons will join the Marketing Communications Department working with Davie as our new graphic designer, producing catalogs, price sheets, flyers, signage, and brochures. When available, she will also assist Davie with web site expansion.

She comes to LTM from an internet clothing company where she excelled in advertising design, product photography, and website layout responsibilities. She holds a degree in Visual Communications from Collins School of Design in Tempe, AZ.

Davie and I are very excited to welcome Lisa to the LTM team.

Regards,
Karl Smith
Big thing man, big things!

Very proud. Very excited. Very sad (that I never got that discount on a velour Phat Pharm warmup suit)
